November Community Outreach: Giving Back for the Holidays

Can you believe it’s December already? Where’s the time gone? While time flies, we always try to make the most of it by giving back to our community.

Parade of Flags

Looking back on November, we were honored to take part in Kiwanis’ Parade of Flags for Veterans Day. Hundreds of business and community members participate in what is Kiwanis largest fundraiser of the year.

Ten days each year, Kiwanis lines the streets with flags that are sponsored by local businesses. Each flag is $40 and all proceeds help support local youth programs and scholarships.

We sponsor 6 flags but also contribute to the cause in other ways, including maintenance and sales throughout the year and taking down the flags every holiday.

Want to take part in the next event? In addition to Veterans Day, flags are posted on the following days:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Armed Forces Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Flag Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • 9/11 (Patriot Day)

North Lincoln Fire & Rescue Annual Firefighter Toy Drive

Lincoln City Gifts employee Tessa Bonelii Sanquist is Miss Lane County’s Teen 2023! In her role, Tessa knows how important it is to give back to the community. So she’s set a goal to get 500 toys donated to the North Lincoln Fire & Rescue Annual Firefighter Christmas Toy Drive. This wonderful program helps families in need during the holiday season.

We’re so proud of the fact that our store has been one of the biggest collectors so far this year. The North Lincoln Fire & Rescue Firefighters will collect the toys and bring them to families' homes on December 21.

We Had a Ball!

It was a blast to take part in the Angels Ball this year.

Angels Anonymous is a non-profit that provides immediate and basic services for those in need.  Their Festival of Trees began on November 29 and concluded with the Angels Ball on December 2 at Chinook Winds Casino Resort.

The Angels Ball included delicious food, an auction of decorated Christmas trees, a 50/50 raffle, and holiday wreaths in a silent auction that included a variety of other items.

Lincoln City Gifts proudly donated a tree, gifts, and $500 in gift cards to local businesses to support their efforts in raising around $2,000 at auction. We also reserved our table for the event with a $1,100 donation, along with additional donations for the charity.

Until next time, we wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season!
